Following is an excerpt:

Sékaran, Borrelli, Puente, Avila and Reilly are based in Epstein Becker Green's San Francisco office, while DeMuro joins in Dallas, the announcement said.

"Changes to the California regulatory framework are garnering the attention of healthcare investors nationwide," Mark E. Lutes, chair of the firm's board of directors, said in a statement. "This group of lawyers has vast experience in assisting clients with state approvals and guiding the regulatory and transactional aspects of value-based care enterprises, having served in government as well as the private sector."

In a statement, Sékaran said Epstein Becker Green offers the team a "powerful opportunity to amplify our work alongside true healthcare pioneers and innovators while also embracing our roots in California and the West Coast."

"Furthermore, EBG's super-boutique platform will significantly expand our capabilities and allow us to focus on the areas of law we are passionate about and contribute to the firm's continued success and reputation in healthcare and life sciences," he said.

In an email to Law360 on Wednesday, Sékaran said it's "not entirely a coincidence" that the team joins Epstein Becker Green as "new and impactful legislation," the California Health Care Quality and Affordability Act, becomes effective. The team joined the firm Monday, a firm representative told Law360.

National and local clients will have "to navigate this new framework" and its effects on healthcare transactions, Sékaran said.
