Pittsburgh, PA (October 30, 2023) Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce the expansion of its national Employee Benefits practice with the arrival of five prominent employee benefits and executive compensation attorneys in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The team comes from Eckert Seamans and includes Members Kathryn English, Sandra Mihok, Heather Stone Fletcher, and William Carter and Associate Samuel Nolan, with both English and Mihok having served on that firm’s board of directors. Their skills enhance the robust and comprehensive employee benefits services EBG provides to clients. Other recent additions to the Employee Benefits practice have included Member Jeb Gerth in Nashville and Senior Counsel David Diaz in Washington, DC.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to add this new group of talented employee benefits attorneys, who not only will establish new service capabilities in the Pittsburgh region but also will play a pivotal role in supporting and expanding our national Employee Benefits practice,” said Steven Di Fiore, Chief Operating Officer at EBG. “As recent regulatory developments impacting employer-sponsored retirement and health and welfare plans take center stage, and as our clients demand more capable and creative counsel than ever, we’re fortunate to welcome this talented new team to help meet these needs.”

The team’s Members have worked together for over 10 years, and English and Mihok have practiced together for more than 20 years. Each of them practices exclusively in the employee benefits area, and Mihok and Fletcher also have experience with HIPAA and related data privacy/security matters.

“The firm’s relationship with world-class companies and innovators in the employee benefits space is what attracted us to EBG,” said English. “I, along with the rest of this team, can’t wait to bring our combined knowledge and clientele to the firm to help EBG meet clients’ heightened demand for employee benefits support in this region and across the country.”

The team advises on matters for all kinds of employee benefit plans (defined benefit pension plans, 401(k)/profit sharing plans, health plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, and equity compensation plans), including compliance with the Internal Revenue Code, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Affordable Care Act, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, and HIPAA. The team strives to simplify issues, provide innovative solutions, and offer practical and understandable advice.

The arrival of EBG’s new employee benefits group continues a busy year of strategic growth for the firm. In August, EBG welcomed Andrew Lichtenstein to its Employment, Labor & Workforce Management (ELWM) practice in Los Angeles following the addition, in July, of a cross-disciplinary, six-attorney team in Portland, Oregon, to both its Health Care & Life Sciences and ELWM practices.
