Kathryn English, Sandra Mihok, Heather Stone Fletcher, and William Carter, Members of the Firm, and Samuel Nolan, Associate, in the firm’s Employee Benefits Practice, were featured in The Legal Intelligencer, in “Epstein Becker Green Snags Eckert Seamans Employment Benefits Team to Launch Pittsburgh Office,” by Amanda O’Brien.

Following is an excerpt:

Five long-time Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott employment benefits and executive compensation attorneys, including two former members of the firm’s board of directors, left the firm to launch Epstein Becker Green’s new Pittsburgh office Monday.

Among those making the move to the Am Law 200 firm are former tax, estates and benefits group chair Kathryn English, former Pittsburgh office managing partner Sandra Mihok, members Heather Stone Fletcher and William Carter, and associate Samuel Nolan.

English and Mihok were previously at Eckert Seamans for around 25 years, whereas the remaining group of attorneys had been with the firm for about a decade. Most of the group’s clients will be coming with them in the move, according to English, with a majority of them based in the Pittsburgh area.

“We thought very hard about this move,” English said. “We’re happy with our decision … one of the people at Epstein knew one of the people in our group, and we concluded it would be a great fit for us.”

According to David Garland, who chairs the firm’s labor and employment steering committee and sits on the board of directors, the new group of attorneys are well suited to establishing Epstein Becker in the Pittsburgh market.

“We always look at major cities in the country where we have the capacity to build both of our core practices,” Garland said. “[Our] efforts [to move into the city] were really jumpstarted when we became aware of this group and its talent.”
