Earning a place in this year’s class are Carlos Becerra (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management, Los Angeles), Shira Blank (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management, New York), Helaine Fingold (Health Care & Life Sciences, Baltimore), Cassandra Labbees (Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation, New York), Teresa Mason (Health Care & Life Sciences, Washington, DC), Conor Murphy (Health Care & Life Sciences, Newark), Kevin Sullivan (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management, Los Angeles), and Edward Yennock (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management and Litigation & Business Disputes, New York).
Mr. Becerra’s experience includes representing clients in trade secret and unfair competition litigation, including disputes involving non-compete agreements; defending clients in wage and hour disputes and against claims of discrimination and retaliation; counseling clients regarding compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; and conducting workplace investigations.
Ms. Blank advises clients on all aspects of the employment relationship and represents clients in employment-related litigation on a broad array of matters, including claims of discrimination, sexual harassment and hostile work environment, retaliation, wrongful termination, whistleblowing, and wage and hour claims, among others, in state and federal courts and before various administrative agencies.
Ms. Fingold has more than 20 years of broad health law and regulatory experience, including prior government experience in both the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. She advises on issues involving the Medicare Program Parts A, B, C, and D, Medicare Innovations, Medicare Dual Eligibles, Medicaid, and Veterans’ health care programs, and she counsels companies on legislative and regulatory strategies involving government health programs.
Ms. Labbees has provided counsel to clients for more than a decade in the financial services and health care industries, corporate clients, and tax-exempt and not-for-profit institutions on a wide range of employee benefit issues involving tax-qualified and non-qualified plans, 401(k) plans, ESOPs, defined benefit plans, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), multiemployer plans, and health and welfare plans.
Ms. Mason defends a variety of health care entities against federal and state government investigations related to health care fraud and abuse arising under the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, physician self-referral laws, and other state and federal fraud statutes. Additionally, she assists clients with risk adjustment coding and payment, government investigations, and health regulatory counseling.
Mr. Murphy represents hospital systems, physician groups, ambulatory surgical centers and office-based surgical suites, private equity firms investing in the health care sector, management service organizations, diagnostic imaging centers, home care agencies, device and equipment distributors, and health care entrepreneurs in connection with a broad spectrum of strategic and operational matters.
Mr. Sullivan litigates all forms of employment law cases, with a concentration on wage and hour class and collective actions. He also provides counseling on employment issues, such as compliance with the California Labor Code and Fair Labor Standards Act wage and hour laws and misclassification, overtime, meal and rest breaks, discrimination, harassment, whistleblower retaliation, wrongful termination, retaliation, breach of contract, and defamation cases.
Mr. Yennock focuses his practice on the areas of employment disputes and complex civil litigation. He represents employers in lawsuits, arbitrations, and mediations involving a range of employment law issues, including breaches of restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements, compensation disputes, misappropriation of confidential information and trade secrets, raiding, partnership disputes, and harassment and discrimination claims.
