James Oh, Member of the Firm, joins a panel discussion, "Navigating the Post-Pandemic Work World: Trends, Challenges, and Strategies for Success," moderated by Tryphena Liu, Associate, at the 2024 NAPABA Convention, which runs from November 7 to 10.

As the legal profession adapts to the realities of the post-pandemic workplace, law firms and legal departments continue to evaluate their work models to provide optimal client service while building community amongst colleagues and staff. This panel discussion will discuss trends regarding various post-pandemic work models within law firms, government agencies, and in-house legal departments, offering insights for seasoned and new lawyers alike. Each model – whether 100% in office, hybrid, or 100% remote – presents challenges and opportunities. This panel will offer strategies for effectively leveraging each of these work models to gain the experience, training, and mentorship necessary to building a successful career in law. The panelists will provide advice for establishing oneself (as a new lawyer or lateral lawyer in a new working environment) and gaining adequate experience, dealing with conflicting generational views and working styles, and developing effective networks and mentors in the new patchwork workplace. The panelists will also share best practices for effectively managing or collaborating with remote and hybrid colleagues, including fostering team cohesion to optimizing productivity and ensuring effective communication.
