Adam Tomiak, Member of the Firm, joins a panel discussion hosted by Deloitte Tax on issues your organization should be addressing in order to develop a sustainable workforce strategy for the future.
Over the past 18 months, many organizations have had to pivot quickly to a remote or hybrid work environment, and as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic many have recognized that this model works well for their workforce and are considering it as part of their long-term business strategy. As we come out of the pandemic and shift to a “newer normal”, remote/hybrid work will play a large part in attracting and retaining the right talent.
However, many companies are now facing the challenge of understanding the tax implications (e.g., payroll tax withholding obligations, state and local nexus exposure), and legal considerations of shifting employee geographical locations. In addition, as companies look to operationalize their remote/hybrid work strategies it is critical that clear policies and procedures are adopted, applicable laws are taken into consideration, and appropriate protocols are implemented.
