At Epstein Becker, which focuses on employment and healthcare work, chairman of the board Mark Lutes said that he expects that the change in regulation expected to accompany the new administration will keep the firm very busy, and that the firm is anticipating an increase in transactional work.
"We don't try to be all things to be all people," he said. "We're fortunate enough to enjoy nationally recognized brands in two core practices, and we think that will continue to pay off, including on the recruiting side."
What Keeps Him Up At Night: One of the things most on his mind from an organizational management perspective, Lutes said, is continuing to navigate the firm's hybrid work arrangements. Remote work has many advantages, he noted, but it also can have long-term consequences if not approached carefully.
"We have to address the needs of multiple generations of attorneys, some of whom have been practicing all or most of their careers in a hybrid environment and have not had as much of the benefit of face-to-face, in-person contact and the knowledge transfer and professional skills development that goes with that," he said.
