David Jacobs, a Member of the Firm in the Litigation and Labor and Employment practices, in the Los Angeles office, wrote an article for the Employment Committee Defense Counsel Section of the Media Law Resource Center, titled "Legal Considerations for U.S. Media Employers Who Send Employees 'Into Harm's Way.'"
Following is a brief excerpt:
When a major safety threat develops in the world, news agencies and other media-based companies by virtue of their business models often send employees into dangerous situations to report on the unfolding events. This creates a very real risk that employees may be injured or even killed while on assignment. Accordingly, the article examines both the practical steps these employers can take and the legal risks implicated when they send employees on dangerous assignments and put them "into harm's way."
